Holy Cross Convent, Costock, Nottinghamshire

The Community of the Holy Cross, an Anglican Benedictine religious community, made the decision to relocate from their home of 30 years at Rempstone Hall to a new purpose built convent located in the nearby village of Costock. The chosen site was a 25 acre farm with a large farmhouse dating from 1729 and a collection of farm buildings, some of which were to be retained.

The historically important farmhouse was refurbished and now provides accommodation for guests and groups wishing to visit the convent for quiet days or residential retreats. The modern inappropriate farm buildings were cleared away and the remaining historic buildings were restored and incorporated into a comprehensive range of new buildings to form the new convent with a chapel and garden space at the centre.

The convent buildings are 1,700m2 in area and have been constructed from high quality materials with a long design life.
