Lincoln Cathedral Connected

Backed by a £12.4M grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the Connected project at Lincoln Cathedral was completed on site in summer 2020. The previously hidden landscape to the north side of the cathedral was transformed to provide new accessible space for visitors and local residents. The Old Deanary building on Eastgate was comprehensively repaired and restored to provide new community use space with a new cafe to the ground floor.

Adjacent to the Old Deanery, a new visitor centre has been constructed using high quality materials including natural stone, bronze and zinc. The visitor centre also incorporates a new retail space. In addition, the old floodlighting to the cathedral was replaced with new low energy LED colour change lights.

The final part of the Connected project includes works to the west front of the cathedral including restoration and repair of the romanesque frieze.
